Joanne Marie Paleczny

Joanne Marie Paleczny (“Josie”), 62 of Auburn passed away peacefully Monday, February 23, 2026 at SUNY Upstate Hospital in Syracuse, surrounded by her loving family, following a recent cancer diagnosis. 
 She was born in and enjoyed her early childhood in St. Catharine’s, Ontario Canada. Joanne was a 1981 graduate of Auburn High School and received her Associate’s degree from Alfred State University. She was employed by Cayuga CountyDepartment of Social Services. Josie was an avid rock and gem collector, travelling to unique destinations with her best friend Danielle to add to her collection.  She had a strong passion for snorkeling and underwater photography, capturing underwater images that would take your breath away.  She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.
 She is survived by her loving parents Raymond and Sally (Madill) Paleczny, siblings Jennifer (Alan) Prizzi and John Paleczny (Margaret Thomas), and her nieces and nephews, David(Lexi), Brooke, Alex, Ryan and Reese who lovingly referred to her as “Aunt Josie”.  She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and her K9 companion “Zed”.
A celebration of Josie’s life will be held at the Springside Inn on March 14, 2026 from 12:30 - 3:30 PM for family and friends.
