Edward Bennett



  Edward Bennett, 80 of Throop, passed away March 21,2024 at The Commons on Saint Anthony.

   He was born in Auburn,NY the son of the late Miles and Helen (Cole) Bennett and had been an area life resident. He previously worked at Gould’s and Sylvania until his disability made it impossible for him to work anymore. Ed liked to hunt and fish and really enjoyed coaching. He spent many years coaching various baseball teams in the Town of Throop. Ed was a proud member of the Prison City Ramblers car club He loved spending time with his wife and family and will be sadly missed by all of them.

He is survived by three loving  children, Ed (Debbie) Bennett of Owasco, Kelly Thurston of Montezuma, Todd (Kathy) Bennett of Throop, eight grandchildren, Adam (Samantha), Nathan, Cory, Alicia, Jessica (Allyn), Todd Jr.(Tony), Matthew (Mindy), Nicholas, five great-grandchildren, Roman, Camryn, Cayden, Nora, Paige, a sister Nancy Cummings, brother-in-law, Joseph (Bridget) Szakalski of Throop, sister-in-law Lynn Parsons of Scipio, brother-in-law Richard Szakalski of CA., as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

  In addition to his parents, Ed was recently predeceased by his wife and best friend Sandra in 2023, two sons Michael (infant) and Mark Bennett and four siblings, sister Thea and brothers, Wells, Miles and Max.

Calling hours are this Wednesday from 5-7 pm in the Pettigrass Funeral Home. Services are Thursday at 10:30 am in the funeral home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
